Taco Bell
The other day Ryan, the kids, and I went through the Taco Bell drive thru. Dash asked what we were eating at Tungle Bell. It was hilarious, because he was sooo serious in pronouncing it that way.
Hair Cut
Last week saturday, i was letting Sammie cut some papers at the kitchen table while I got things ready for the day. We sat down to eat some breakfast and i see a chunk of hair by the milk carton. Now i didnt think anything of it when I saw it cuz i just went shopping (even though sammie said it was hers). After breakfast I was cleaning up the table and saw a chunk of hair by the scissors. It was then that I realized that Sammie had cut her hair! I guess, if I would have never found the evidence I would have never know that she had cut it! So thankful it wasnt to her scalp!!!
boout
Sammie has her own weird way of pronouncing things. Our new favorite word that she says is butt. She starts out with a boo and ends with a ut....so it looks like boout.

WHY???
I am so thankful that I never went through this stage with Dash. Sammie since her 3rd birthday is constantly asking that question. I am thankful that is curious of the wonderful world that God created, but I can see how this can become very annoying. I am going to try really hard to not let it get on my nerves, but I sure hope this doesn't last very long.

I Love You...
Today was the first day that I have heard Sammie tell me that she loves me without being promted. It almost brought tears to my eyes.
Trip to Chicago
As those from WI or those visiting WI have already posted~it has been old school hot here this past week. I had planned a train trip to Chicago for Thursday(1st day of the heat index off 100). We left early and I had really given the day to Jesus so that it would be fun and not a stressful time. Needless to say, He didnt want us going. We MISSED our train. So we went to Grandma and Grandpa Mikesell's house to take advantage of the pool :)

Blue Train, Green Train
That is the title of a book that Ryan and I are currently living. Blue Train~Thomas, works during the day and Green Train~Percy works at night. As Thomas is coming home to go to bed, Percy is waking up to go to work and vice versa. Ryan has been working 3rd shift at the State Fair and is getting home around 7:30 am and going to bed about 8-9am. It has been an adjustment and I have missed him terribly. It is weird to not be sleeping next to him. The first night I slept horribly. I kept waiting for him to come home like on inventory days :( So we recite the part of the book at shift changes to eachother~"well done green train, have fun blue train. Well done blue train, have fun green train"
"momma, click here" is what i hear Dash say to me often, while he is "stuck" in a pose. I think he plays too much computer games!

Friends
Why is it at this stage in life do I find it difficult to have friends? I mean really.....aside from the obvious, am I that boring or what is the deal?
grant money
I am so ANNOYED with this process! Still waiting on bids and the money amount is dwindling~Im sure! I guess that is all I have on that subject :) God is trying to teach me a patience and trusting level. I am ok with that, but I am ready to give up. He tells us to keep on keeping on....so that is what I am doing :)
Sleep Study
I know you are all waiting for the update on this:
We had our consulation appointment last week and it has been decided to follow through with the sleep study and look to see if it is sleep apnea. The allergy medicine has helped, but there is more to it. She is sleeping longer but the quality is still low. She does breath heavier and thrases A LOT. I can't even tell you how many times(before we go to bed even) we hear her hitting some body part on the wall.
Sammie's sleep study is set for September 16th. It goes from 6:30pm to 6am.

Sleepy Girls
Breastmilk
Slightly graphic~if you couldnt tell by the title :)
I have been meaning to blog on this subject for MONTHS. However, I have failed. I think that it is ironic how we parent differantly between child number 1 and number 3. I know that I have blogged on that issue before, but tonight I bring before you my own experiance with breastfeeding/milk. With Dash I approaced the subject/matter of a let's see what happens. To be honest with him it was hard, he was in the NICU right away, I had a hard time working with him, he was on a nuk right away, again I had a hard time seeing what I was doing(lets be honest here~I was to flipn huge to see squat), he was not a patient baby. So at the hospital I tried pumping and he got some that way(he was only in for 24 hrs more than we were) and when we got home I desperately tried to nurse him and when I couldnt do that I tried to pump. I bought a pump for $50. I had learned why Medela could charge over $300 for a pump and knowing what I know now, I would pay it in a heartbeat(after searching craigslist of course :) ) The pump I purchased I believe was a first years brand and I could not even fit in it let alone get any milk out. Thankfully I had a friend who had loaned me her Medela~in the nick of time before my milk started to dry up. So I would pump and bottle feed with him. I did not get a good milk supply, due to many reasons, but it all boils down to~I didn't know any better and I kinda didn't care, that's what formula is for right? So Dash had about 4-6 weeks of breastmilk. Well he loved his formula and he ate A LOT. So much so with Sammie here just over a year later I knew we could not affored the formula and 2 in diapers. So I had made "vow" to really try this breast feeding thing. Sammie was not a NICU baby so I had more opportunities to try at the hospital. Again, I had a hard time getting her to latch. She would take 30 min to get on properly and only with the help of a nurse or lactation consultant and fall asleep within 5 minutes! Well that 5 min was enough because in the hospital she would go 4-5 hours between feeds. When we came home, I had trouble again/still. The same problem existed~I was too huge to see what I was doing. It continued to take forever to get her latched and it wouldnt even be correctly. She would get the tip and thus not get enough milk. So the first night she was home she was up every 2 hours and I knew it was because she was not getting enough milk. I had some frozen from earlier try to make it easier for her nurse. I put it in a bottle and she slept 6 hours I think. It was at that moment at 4 am that I decied I am going to do this for a few days(the pump and bottle feed) to let my self heal. It was in that time that I decided this is what we are going to do and forget the nursing thing. I devoted to pumping for 4 months. I had arranged a pumping schedule that slightly mimicked her feeding schedule, but off set it so I was able to feed her still and pump. I full filled my commitment and then some. I pumped every 3-4 hours for 4.5 months. With that I was able to store up another 2.5 months worth of milk. I think I could have gone longer, but with the 6 month growth spurt she picked up her milk intake as her solids level was low. So she went 6 months with only breastmilk, 1 month with her bottles mixed half and half, and only had straight formula for 3 months. So when it was time for Ali to be born, I knew that I was not even going to try nursing. I knew it didnt go well with the first two, so why go through the emotions and hassel and pain. I commited to pumping and bottle feeding, except this time I had an odd motivation~lets just see how much milk I can make! So that is what I set out to do....I pumped every 2 hours(I didn't even mimick her sch, I just knew I wanted a lot of milk) for 4 monthsish. I again was going to commit to pumping for 4 months since that worked out quite well with Sammie, but my supply was so large that it took me another 6-8 weeks to wean my body to stop producing milk. I am not going to lie, it was very difficult to do and very emotional. I had to take my pump with me whereever I went. As a matter of fact, I bought a car AC adapter so I could pump in the van. We would set out to grocery shop and I would have to pump while doing that. The end result~no purchased formulat for Ali. Ali did have some formula in the hospital and a bit here and there when I didnt have enough milk thawed. But I didn't even get half way through a sample can they send you in the mail. I had to throw it out! At 11 months(when our pedi recommeneds) I put Ali on cows milk, not because I was out of breastmilk, but for convience. It was just easier to pour it out of a gallon than to thaw in baggies. I don't even know how much I had leftover and at the rate she is drinking milk these days she would probably still be drinking breastmilk in her bedtime bottle. Instead I was able to give it to a friend you just had twin girls. She was not able to nurse right away due to the babies size so she was doing the pumping and bottle feeding. She is keeping up with that task and was supplementing when needed. One of her babies does not do well on the formula and was told to be on breastmilk only. So she is able to use my ounces upon ounces of left over milk for her babies and to help her build up her own supply.
Like I said, I think it is interesting how we as parents change~without even trying, for the better or worse~between number 1 and 3. I am not upset about the decision I made with any of the kids and I have a very supporting husband who I couldn't have done the pump and bottle with the girls without him and let's be honest, I have some good milk producers. God really blessed me with those for the girls and for that I am thankful~for their health and the pocket.
