PBS Kids

I am proud to say that my kids love the shows on PBS kids. We do not have cable or dish, so that really was their only option for years until we got the digital converter box. We now have an option for Qubo, but we don't watch it often, too many commercials. The kids get confused when a commercial comes on. They also love to play games at www.pbskids.org
All this to say, when Dash opened his gift from Grandma Kitty on Wednesday he saw the logo on the bottom of the box and was so excited, "ooo, pbskids" He turned the gift around to see it was Buddy and Tiny from Dinosaur Train

Samantha

Today when we picked Dash up from school, he said bye to his friend "Jack". Sammie was quick to point out that his name is Jackson. So I explained that he name is Jackson, but he likes to be called Jack.

"Oh, like when you say Samantha when I am in trouble?"

Nothing escapes her!

Ironic?!?

I think not. Yesterday I was able to fully surrender the basement work to God. Something I thought I had done, but obviously didn't. Later in the day, I received a phone call from Jim. Today he came out and is willing to drop his price by $7,000 and get us really close to the Keith. I don't know what Keith's numbers are, but I think that drop will them very close to each other. Close enough that Ryan and I can afford the difference. Not only is Jim willing to lower the price, but he is including so much more that unfortunately is not being taken in to consideration. He is willing to trench our downspouts and have them drain behind the garage. He is soooo willing to throw in the little extras for us! Jesus, thank you for all that you are doing and I am so sorry I got in the way!

Anxiety

anx·i·e·ty

   [ang-zahy-i-tee] Show IPA
–noun, plural -ties.
1.
distress or uneasiness of mind caused by fear of danger or misfortune: He felt anxiety about the possible loss of his job.
2.
earnest but tense desire; eagerness: He had a keen anxiety to succeed in his work.
3.
Psychiatry . a state of apprehension and psychic tension occurring in some forms of mental disorder.

I have suffered from definition 1 and 2 over the past week and a half of the contractor debacle. As a matter of fact, I have been very nauseous about this. I kept turning it over to God to handle, but I guess I never really let go of that last tiny bit, with which Satan surely used to rope me back in. Today, I sat and talked and confessed my sin of anxiety to Him. I asked Him for forgiveness and then gave complete control to Him. Ironically, I got a phone call from Jim(the guy I want) asking more details about the latest hoop he needs to jump through. We shall see what God has in store for us!

Dear Mom,

"Dear Mom,
I really, really, really love you a lot-abit. Jesus really, really loves you a lot-abit too. It is many many days until my birthday."

Rudely interupting, "no, your birthday is on Wednesday. Your party is in a week."

"Dear Mom,
I really, really, really love you a lot-abit. Jesus really, really loves you a lot-abit too. Jesus, my birthday is on Wednesday. There is lots of time to decorate."
Love Mom, Dash Cohanman 80 Giraffe

Dash wrote me these two letters tonight on our way to church. He then told me what the said. Now the ending, Dash has a PBSkids.org login and password. He now likes to sign his name with his login and password, with a twist. I am working on making sure he knows his last name and how to spell it since he will be in big kid school next year!

Snap It

This morning while I was getting ready for work, I was flat ironing my hair. Sammie came in the bathroom to brush her teeth. She turned to me and said, "mom, can you snap my hair too, my sides are curly."

This is also the girl that wants some feather extensions!

Such a girlie girl

1st

Dash is my competitor! He likes to be 1st for everything. The first one to the van, the first one to get dressed, the first one for this and for that.

Tonight on our way home from the park the kids were riding their bikes, so therefore there is a need to be first in Dash's eyes. As we crossed the street to our block the kids took off for home. Dash fell off his bike going up the ramp. He sat there and cried and cried. I know that I am not very patient when he "loses" and melts down. I really feel, he needs to learn to get over it and get on with life. So we made it home, slowly. When we got home, I apologized for not be so patient with him. I asked him what was wrong, "I'm not good at anything" was spilled out between sobs.

I embraced him with a hug, wiped the snot and tears. I told him quite plainly that was a lie. I then listed the things he is good at. I told him just because he loses, doesn't mean he isn't good at something or in that matter, everything. I told him that when he isn't 1st we just need to try harder next time. It made my heart break to hear him say those words. He is a confident boy!

Black

The other day I went to Sonic to get a soda.We went through the drive through and Sammie was puzzled because they only had 1 window, not 2 like most other drive-thrus. When I pulled up to the window to pay, "Mama, is it a boy or a girl?" "It is a girl." "oh, is that one a boy?" "yes, that one is a boy." "Why is she black?" "Well, that is the way God made her." "Did he paint her?" With all seriousness in her cute and inquisitive voice.

Updates

Well, there have been a few major changes with the grant process since I last posted.

1. They are now paying for our gutters (YAY!)
2. We were sooooo close to signing a contract, but we are now waiting once again for more bids to come in. Based on technicality, we had to allow the previous companies to bid on the new work write up. I am not pleased with this technicality because that means there is a good chance there will be someone doing my foundation work that I don't want touching my house. I learned things about this company since I first submitted my bid back in August of 2010.
3. Things like this and this are starting to hit home. We have not received a letter stating we must repay the amount we received and I have a feeling we will not. We did not receive one penny from our insurance company!

Please continue to pray for guidance and God's hand on our project. I was very nauseous yesterday thinking of the company working on my house that I don't want to. I am hoping that there is a way around this and I need to trust God. Please ask God to do what is best for His house! My next post on this subject should hopefully be: We have a contract!

Prayer

Tonight at snack time, Ali folded her hands and bowed her head to pray.

"Thank you for food. Jibberish. Thank you Daddy home. Eman"
