Physical Touch

I have really been holding and snuggling Sammie more than usual. I just feel that is the best I can do to help with her behavior. It seems as though she wouldn't accept words of kindness and praise. She wouldn't accept positive reinforcement. She would then take that as permission to be naughty. I am not sure why, but I have been just holding and snuggling her.

It dawned on me today that her love language is Physical Touch. Why it has taken me so long to figure out, I don't know. But as I was sitting and holding her this morning, it just clicked. She is so much me, that I should have known this for months! So, here we go, adventuring on a new way of life, showing love in a physical way. I have always hugged and kissed her, but just sitting and holding is hard for me. It means me sitting still. Which is hard for me to do. Just another way Jesus is teaching me to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

  1. This is so wonderful, Sarah. A friend of mine just mentioned this as well -- we were all sharing stories of our kids "being 2" and she said "I'm finding that just stopping and holding her helps, because I thought I caught a glimpse in her eyes of 'Help me' one day in the midst of a fit."
