Surgery

Dash is scheduled for tubes in and adnoids out on March 3, 2011. I took him in to the doctor the past two Mondays, first to our pedi and second to our ENT. I wasn't sure which avenue to go first. He has had 3 ear infections since December and can not hear. The later is what I mostly took him in for two weeks ago. My mommy gut told me he needs tubes, but I needed to have a Dr.'s opinion on it. Thankfully both the pedi and ENT agreed with me. After 3 rounds of high ranked antibiotics, the non clear, mostly yucky fluid was still behind his ears, right ear especcially. So, hopefully things go well. I am looking forward to the tubes, I know they really helped his hearing 4 years ago. The poor guy thinks he hears things right and gets into a fight with Sammie about it and how to say the word the right way and he is usually wrong. He also is really really really loud when he talks. I hope for better for him soon! The ENT wants to take the adnoids out too while he is in putting the tubes in because this is his second round of tubes and he is 4 years old. He said that if he were only 2 getting his tubes in again, he wouldn't push for the adnoids, becasue the body has a "major" development at 3 years old with reguards to the ears. It is at this age the slope for lack of better words developes more and is more downward facing, lessening the chance of ear infections. Since he has already hit that milestone and needs tubes again, Dr. Condon thinks that maybe his adnoids are too big and blocking the fluid from draining properly. Hopefully he is right and Dash doesn't have his Uncle Matt's ears. Hopefully this is the end of tubes/ear pain for Dash.
