Gymnastics

Thanks be to Grandma Kitty did Sammie get to go to gymnastics class. It was weird for me to read that I basically drop her off and go. I was a bit leary of the idea, so I dropped my mom and Sammie off at gymnastics at the YMCA for several weeks. This past Saturday was the last class where parents are welcome to come see what the kids learned. Here is a snap shot of what Sammie learned over the past weeks. She did not start out in the class, she started out in level 1 for ages 3-4. After 1 session of that, she was advanced to level 2 class. After 2 sessions of that she was advanced to level 3 class for 4-6 year olds! Unfortunately there are no more levels for her to advance to yet, because of age. The next level would put her in with the school aged kids, and because she has the maturity of a 3 year old, she would not do so well. So we are keeping her in this class for another session and maybe come spring/summer we can try the school aged group. I am so glad that she is able to do this. This is finally something that is hers, not Dash's. She is so proud of her gymnastics too!
playing around before class started.

doing the opposum hang

spinning/twirling on the low bar

doing the bear walk

the rings....her favorite!

Warm up time. She didn't really partcipate in them.

the other kids are doing the butterfly stretch and "going to disney", she wanted nothing to do with it. Since she is my kid, my guess is that she thinks she looks stupid.

Pointing her toes~Sammie style.

side stepping down the beam

running, jumping, stradle roll~but she just rolled.
round 2 of the obstacle course

The tumble track. Its like a long trampoline. Sorry these pics are blurry, but if I used my flash I wouldn't have gotten the images because it takes too long.

here i used the flash!

The High Beam! Sammie and one other girl are the only ones to try this all by themselves!

Ms. Ashley reminding her to concentrate and focus.

and thats what you get when you do those things!

oops, lost concentration, but didnt fall.

practicing concentration on the little beam

In their stamp position! I guess they lay face down to see what kind of stamp they get for the day, this way it is a surprise. All of us parents were puzzled and thought the kids were being naughty, Ms. Ashley told them to get into "stamp position" and they fell like this one at a time. It wasn't until they were all like that did we get it. Very cool idea!

Upside down, a favortie place of hers!
