grown up

Tonight after bath, while I was cutting Dash's looooong finger nails:

D: "Mom, I need to watch EVERYTHING you are doing for when I am a grown up."
M: "Yes, that is my job, to teach you how to be a grown up, Mommy isn't going to be here to take care of you forever."
D: "Sooo, how do you do this? Oh, you put the nail there and then squeeze as hard as you can?!"
M: "Yes, but you don't want to cut your nail too short."
D: "OH. I don't need to watch Daddy, just you Mom."
M: "Well, you do need to watch Daddy too, he can teach you things that Mommy can't."
D: "OH. He works all the time. Mom, can you teach me how to work? How do you make pancakes?"
M: "I follow the directions on the box, then I put them on the griddle and cook them."
D: "I need to do that too, so I know how when I am a grown up."
M: "Well. I can teach you how to do that when you get older."
D: "Like when I am 7 or 8 or 9?"
M: "NO, when you are 10 you can start to cook things on the stove when Mommy & Daddy are around."'
D: "Ok, cuz I need to know that when I am a grown up."

He then followed by down stairs and asked my how to wash clothes and when I told him that I didn't have anything to add to the washer, he asked if I would show him next week on Laundry day!

What a great conversation I just had with my big boy! I can't believe where the time has gone! Can I just freeze him at this age?
